About Onyx:
Onyx‘s name comes through Latin from the Greek word meaning ”claw” or “fingernail,” due to its tendency to have white colored bands that sometimes resemble a fingernail. The variety we carry is Black Onyx, so it lacks these distinguishing claw-like features and is instead a pure black stone with some instances of deeper-colored banding. In the past, Onyx was believed to be a powerful stone capable of both great protection and great discord depending on its use. It is widely said to be a protective and defensive stone despite its abilities to disrupt and disturb natural energies. Alternatively, some may find its abilities to suppress certain energies to control desires to be of interest.
This stone is a deep black color with some instances of low-contrast banding.
